Jul. 25--It's easy to forget the reach of war, especially when the fighting happened far away or long ago. To prevent amnesia from setting in at home, Sterling Heights has signed on to a project chronicling the experiences of its veterans. The effort, called the Veterans History Project, is part of a national push to collect stories and memorabilia from war veterans involved in any branch of service. During the past few months, more than two dozen people have contacted the city about sharing their experiences, said Carol Lingeman, director of the Sterling Heights Public Library and liaison to the city's historical commission, which is …
