The board of supervisors in Santa Cruz County last week approved a moratorium on growing bioengineered crops within their jurisdiction, joining Trinity, Marin and Mendocino as California counties with biotech bans.
The decision drew a round of applause from some 30 spectators in the board's chambers, according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel. "It appears not to be controversial in Santa Cruz County," commented supervisor Mark Stone.
