Gauteng hospitals 'hardest hit by resources squeeze' Johannesburg Metro Editor GAUTENG hospitals had the least resources allocated per hospital bed despite being burdened by the demand to provide services to patients from neighbouring provinces, says a study into the state of the nation's public hospitals.

The research was being regarded as key in guiding present health policy, particularly the recent decision by national government to give hospital managers greater powers in a bid to improve service delivery.

It compared eight hospitals in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and North West. …
