Jul. 13--A longtime assistant principal at one of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's top-performing middle schools in south Charlotte has been named principal at another award-winning south Charlotte middle school.

William Leach, who had been assistant principal for six years at Carmel Middle School, has been appointed principal at Alexander Graham Middle.

Both schools have been honored in recent years by a national organization as Schools to Watch -- a top award given to middle schools, for achievement in academics and student development.
