It's no surprise, is it? Audi's R8 went out a winner: Allan McNish passed Porsche driver Romain Dumas with 30 minutes left to give himself and teammate Rinaldo Capello the win at the American Le Mans Series' New England Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. It was the second of the week's two big-time sports car races, with Grand-Am running at Daytona on Thursday.

McNish and Capello won by 11.812 seconds over the Penske Racing Porsche RS Spyder of Dumas and Timo Bernhard. It was the R8's 48th overall ALMS win and its 50th in class. The new diesel-powered R10 will replace the R8 at the ALMS's next stop, Salt Lake City's Miller Motorsports Park on July 15.

Dumas and Bernhard, who started from pole, finished second overall and first in LMP2 for their second straight class win. The sister car of Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr finished second in class. Third place went to the class championship-leading duo of Clint Field and Liz Halliday in the Intersport Racing Lola.

Aston Martin Racing captured its first GT1 win of the season. Pedro Lamy beat Corvette Racing's Johnny O'Connell (who teamed with Ron Fellows) by just 0.033 second. Lamy and teammate Stephane Sarrazin gave Aston Martin its first ALMS win since Sebring last year and snapped Corvette Racing's 12-race win streak, which dated back to the 2005 Grand Prix of Atlanta. Darren Turner and Tomas Enge finished third in the sister DBR9. The Corvette of Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin, winners of the previous eight series races, was damaged in an early-race incident with a Dyson Racing Lola that left the Corvette stuck in the mud near the rear of the track.

Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister, driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, gave Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing its first GT2 win of the season.

Krohn wins in Daytona

The Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series apparently has a new fuel mileage king: the Ford V8 engine, as built by Roush/Yates and installed in the Krohn Racing Riley-Ford Daytona Prototype. Victory at the Brumos 250 at Daytona International Speedway did not go to the fastest car-the Alex Job Crawford-Porsche-but to the car able to make one fewer pit stop than the others.
