ON Semiconductor which focuses on power management and distribution products and Nantero Inc. which is developing the use of CNTs for next-generation semiconductor devices such as high-density random access memory, have announced a joint collaboration. This will be to develop innovative semiconductor process technology involving the integration of CNTs into CMOS fabrication.
The joint development project is taking place at ON Semiconductor's Gresham OR, manufacturing campus. The facility-recently purchased from LSI Logic Corp.-has production capabilities down to the 130 nanometers node, making it ideal for Nantero's development work. When ON Semiconductor took over the campus in May 2006, it essentially hired all of the facility's employees, including most of the in-house engineering team.
