Thailand: No quality awards for Thai firms again this year.

Section: General News - Thai companies have failed to qualify for the annual Thailand Quality Award (TQA) for the second consecutive year, the Bangkok Post reports.

However, five lower-grade 2005 Thai Quality Class Award (TQC) were handed out for business performance.

The awards are issued by the Thailand Productivity Institute to highlight the best companies in the country.

Somphob Amattayakul, president of the TQA National Committee, said of the 20 organisations that had applied, none had achieved the minimum 650 points out of 1,000 to win the top award.
