JISC funds HE gateway to FoI information

Higher education is to get its own web gateway to information about the Freedom of Information Act (FoI) and information governance legislation, such as the Data Protection Act.
JISC has awarded [pounds sterling]200,000 to FoI As.experts from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and MIMAS (University of Manchester) to develop the Information Governance Gateway.
The gateway was commissioned after a survey of institutions revealed that HE information professionals wanted a centralised information bank about compliance with information governance legislation. The gateway will also be available to members of the public looking for information on HE institutions. There are no plans to allow them to submit a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act or other laws via the website.
