A World Health Organization (WHO) report shows that Honduras has 3,193 of the 5,600 reported AIDS cases in Central America, though the country has only 17 percent of the region's population.

Delia Tercero of the Honduran Health Ministry said officials estimate the number of AIDS sufferers in Honduras will increase nearly fivefold by the year 2,000 to 15,000.
