Jul. 7--MANY PEOPLE who were troubled or ill would drop into Lucien Crump's art gallery in Germantown to seek solace and healing. And they usually got it. The compassionate Crump, whose two-decade-old gallery was the first in the city to feature African-American art, was always ready to lend an understanding ear. He would often give the sufferer a copy of his amazing painting, "Universal Christ," depicting the face of Jesus behind a crystal cross.
