Statesman News Service COOCH BEHAR, July 6: Since Cooch Behar is a flood and river-erosion prone district, the checking of this menace was discussed at the Uttar Banga Unnayan Parshad (UBUP) meeting here yesterday. The UBUP will take initiatives to construct embankments on the banks of the river to resist river erosion and will protect agricultural lands. It was learnt that Tufanganj, Haldibari, Mekhliganj, Sitai and Dinhata were selected as priority areas for anti-erosion work at the UBUP meeting.
