Washington DC/Ankara, 26 June: "You should not be surprised to see a central bank which is more active in matters of foreign exchange and interest rates from now on. Rapidly changing global conditions require this," said Turkish Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz. Speaking to the AA [Anatolia] correspondent, Yilmaz noted that the decisions that were made by the bank yesterday aimed to decrease impact of fluctuations in international markets on the Turkish economy, stating that the decisions would also decrease volatility.
