The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) announced that it will not extend the temporary disposal exemptions that allowed households and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Universal Waste Generators to dispose of some hazardous waste into the trash.
As of February 8, 2006, homeowners and conditionally exempt waste generators can no longer dispose of universal wastes in the trash.
