Narok North MP William ole Ntimama has warned non-Maasai residents in the area to join the locals to block creation of a new district.

If they do not do so, he warned, they will be evicted from their farms.

In a speech reminiscent of previous ones made in the 1990s by Rift Valley politicians, sparking off ethnic clashes in which hundreds were hacked to death and houses burnt, the MP singled out non-Maasai residents in the district and warned that they risked being evicted. He asked land owners to either surrender it willingly or be compelled to give it up.
