A new report on public attitudes toward libraries, by the research group Public Agenda, argues that elected leaders too often don't consider libraries a funding priority and even supportive library users don't recognize that libraries face stiff competition for funds. The report, Long Overdue, supported by Americans for Libraries Council (ALC) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, suggests that the library community could better secure funding by highlighting new and old roles.
