It is rather pathetic that Botswana's privatisation process that started in the mid-1990s to help improve service delivery in the public service and assist government reduce costs is not moving at the pace the public was made to believe it would.

Although the Public Enterprise Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA), that was established in 2001 has carried out extensive groundwork and laid down the requisite infrastructure, the pace of the whole process has been discouraging.
