The 349 Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) employees earmarked for retrenchment will be laid off by the end of July, BMC Chief Executive Officer, Dr Motshubi Raborokgwe said yesterday.

The BMC board has approved P35 million to pay the retrenched employees. The money was part of P240 million loaned to the BMC from government and paid over a period of eight years. Raborokgwe was in Francistown yesterday to address the Francistown BMC abattoir employees on the looming retrenchments and the packages the corporation will offer those affected.
