ITS SUPERMAN IN AN AGE OF GLOBALIZAtion. Finally, hes realized that its not only Americans whore worth saving. Theres a scene in the movie where TV newscasts are overheard reporting Superman sightings around the world, including one in Manilawhich sends the local audience buzzing.

(Speculating about this mention of Manila, I told my kids the producers probably used this sound bite to appeal to every major market worldwide, replacing Manila with other cities where the movies showing.)

But in fairness, Superman has become a global icon, one of the few immediately recognizable comic characters, breaching borders of geography, culture, religion and politics. Other nations may reject the concept of America as the worlds policeman, but who doesnt want Superman on their …
