As usual, we are preparing a full report from the recent Seybold San Francisco Conference and Exposition held Oct. 20-23. But here are a few highlights that will be covered in greater depth in our Special Reports to appear later this month. These are items that didn't appear in our preview guide to Seybold San Francisco.
Color management. Apple, Kodak and Adobe announced their intent to move toward a ColorSync-based color management implementation closer to the system level. It will include public (vs. open) device profiles and drivers that would be common across multiple hardware platforms. The intended end result is an environment ini which the user is assured of consistent, predictable, device-independent color.
EFI isn't ready to join; nor is Pantone, which developed its own color management system with Light Source.
