UNLESS the Federal Government moves swiftly to address grievances of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), learning and teaching will be grounded in all polytechnic institutions across the country, just as their university counterparts also threaten to go on strike over non-implementation of negotiated agreements.
ASUP, at its emergency National Executive Council meeting held at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, gave a twenty-one (21) days ultimatum commencing from 14th June and ending 4th July 2006.
At the expiration of this ultimatum, the polytechnic lecturers will embark on a two (2) days warning strike on 5th and 6th July, 2006. If the Federal Government still did not react, ASUP will embark on a full-scale strike on 12th July, 2006.
