Jun. 30--After killing a jazz historian in his Oakland home, hiding his body in the basement for two months and eventually pleading no contest to his murder, Elnora Myles asked a judge Thursday to withdraw her plea. "Mr. White's death was an accident that I did not handle properly, but I did not kill him," Myles wrote in a letter before her sentencing hearing. Moments after denying Myles' request, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Julie Conger sentenced her to 15 years to life in prison without the possibility of appeal, as part of her April plea bargain.
