SCOMI Group Bhd wants to get a bigger portion of the global drilling fluids market, estimated at US$4.6 billion (RM17 billion) a year, by leveraging on the reputation of KMC Oilstool group internationally, senior executives say.
Scomi also wants to be big in a new business of providing gas separation services for oil majors, expecting to get its first job off the Thailand coast soon.
Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said drilling fluid business made up 26 per cent of Scomi's RM1.07 billion revenue in the year ended December 2005.
