TSO rebuffs latest
sell-off rumours
Mark Chillingworth
Former state-owned publisher, The Stationary Office (TSO), has rebuffed reports that it is due to be sold off by its majority stakeholder, Apax Venture Capital Partners. Reports in the Daily Telegraph claim that TSO could fetch [pounds sterling]100m.
"As a company owned by venture capitalists there are rumours about our sale all the time," said James Duffield, PR manager at TSO, adding that no further comment would be made from the publisher.
Apax owns 71% of TSO and has invested in companies such as IWR's publisher, VNU, in the past. If TSO was sold, chief executive Tim Hailstone, senior management and the staff would net a windfall -- 29% of the company is in their hands.
