Bankruptcy puts landmark Newburgh, N.Y., Italian eatery in jeopardy.

Jun. 28--NEWBURGH -- The Italian restaurant at 362 Broadway is the type of place old timers think of when they talk about how Newburgh used to be.

It's been called Luigi's, Chianti, and most recently, Frontera's. For decades, it's been a watering hole for political and civic types, and an enduring pocket of Italian America.

But two recent bankruptcy filings have put the landmark in jeopardy.

In October, John Frontera, who has owned the restaurant for 10 years, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy for Chianti's. The restaurant claimed to owe more than $370,000 to suppliers and other creditors.
