Students, parents take new track for a first lap.

Jun. 29--A new running track around the field at Olinda Elementary School in El Sobrante is a welcome addition for students and the surrounding community. The track was dedicated Tuesday morning with a ribbon cutting and official first lap run by students, parents and school staffers, but area residents did not wait that long to take advantage of it. The path to getting the track started with a desire by Olinda Principal Karen Whisnant to improve physical education at the school.
