About 40 miles northeast of Corpus Christi, the adjacent small towns of Rockport and Fulton have become popular resorts for Texans--and in winter for many snowbirds from the Midwest. Protected from the Gulf of Mexico by barrier islands, the towns face Aransas Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway and boast a long history, dating back to the Spanish explorers.
