Bastrop area.(Central Texas & Hill Country)
It's easy to zip past Bastrop on Texas 71, a popular route between Austin and Houston, but follow the exit into town across the Old Iron Bridge over the Colorado River and you'll find an appealing community with attractions that make it good for weekend getaways. It's located about 30 miles southeast of Austin and easily accessible from major metropolitan areas of the state.
