When the colonies were declaring their independence from England on the east coast, Father Junipero Serra was using Native American labor to construct his mission on the west coast. The chapel at Mission San Juan Capistrano is the oldest standing structure in California.

The entire town of San Juan Capistrano is steeped in history. Take a stroll down Los Rios Street. This historical district has a number of old adobes that date back to the late 1700s. A weekend may not be enough to get acquainted with all that this lovely little town has to offer. Once you come here, you'll be drawn back again and again.
