Jun. 28--If the driver who hit Alexis Raven Perry had stopped, police say he or she probably would not have been charged in the 11-year-old's death.

But the driver hit the brakes briefly and then kept going. Now, a year to the day after the rising middle school student was struck as she darted across North Sharon Amity, the driver still hasn't come forward.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police haven't given up, but they say they've chased all leads to their end and have nothing else to go on.

"I haven't had anything new on this in a long time," Detective Charlie Brown told the Observer this week. "This was a child. Those…
