Jun. 27--Discussions about California's controversial high school exit exam promise to heat up in coming weeks as the state Legislature considers allocating millions of dollars for remedial classes and hearing dates approach for lawsuits challenging the exam. Monday, Jack O'Connell, the state's schools chief, reported that bills calling for millions in additional funding to help more students pass the exam are making progress in the Legislature.
