A P25 increase in Metro Manila minimum wages was approved yesterday by the regional wage board, triggering a new round of adjustments organized labor has been demanding, given the rising cost of living.
The increase, which brings the daily nonagricultural minimum wage in the metropolis to P350, was below the P75 across-the-board increase sought by the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP).
Wage Order NCR-12 will take effect 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of national circulation, or around the middle of July, the Labor department said.
