Jun. 16--GREAT NEWS FOR EVERYBODY: Bill Gates' move to step down at Microsoft is the best news to come out of Redmond in years.

I mean that in the most respectful way.

It's great news for Microsoft, for the region and the entire world.

It should also be liberating for people around here who have been conflicted about The World's Richest Man, and unsure what to think about him since he ran into legal trouble a few years back.

Maybe that's why it felt peaceful driving through Microsoft's campus Thursday after Gates announced his plans in a historic news conference to step aside over the next two years from …
