Over the last several years, end users increasingly have demanded a broad range of telecommunications services that require higher and higher bandwidth requirements. Unified voice, data, video and content applications are driving providers to question how they will cost effectively provide the necessary bandwidth, and the challenge is increased even more by the end user's demand for mobility. At the same time, the telecommunications business has become tremendously competitive, requiring costs to be managed more closely than ever before.
