More Camrys
Germain Racing and Wyler Racing are considering fielding Camrys in a handful of Nextel Cup races next year. If it happens, it won't be part of Toyota Racing Development's three-team, six-car "factory'' stable of Bill Davis Racing, Team Red Bull and Michael Waltrip Racing. Germain fields Tundras in the Craftsman Series for Todd Bodine and Ted Musgrave, and Wyler fields Tundras for Jack Sprague. If they move to Cup, they will field Camrys in events designated for "Car of Tomorrow,'' a way for NASCAR to gradually introduce newly created and specified-read: slower and safer-future racers.
Super sub
Road racer Scott Pruett of Ganassi-Sabates Racing will substitute for rookie David Stremme in the June 25 Nextel Cup race at Infineon Raceway. Pruett also will race in Saturday afternoon's EMCO Gears Classic Rolex Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Team owner Chip Ganassi says the change is for Infineon only, and that Stremme will be back in the No. 40 Dodge the following weekend at Daytona Beach.
Greetings, comrades
The first permanent race circuit in Russia will hold its opening event next month. Based on an existing temporary track on the Myachkovo airfield, Autodrom Moscow has one circuit configuration with a 2.0-mile lap length. It will apply for an FIA International license.
