But the smile on graduate Zeachia Bruce's face told the real story behind Monday night's first-ever graduation at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Her word for it, shared by other guests and grads: Nice. After weeks of talk and an earlier rehearsal, reality didn't hit Bruce until she walked with her Myers Park High classmates into the 19,000-plus-seat arena. "That was my first time being excited about graduation," Bruce said.…
