James Lyons is chief executive of the Alabama State Port Authority, which is more widely known as Alabama State Docks. The port authority is building a new container terminal at the Port Of Mobile. The terminal will be operated by APM Terminals and will contain all on-dock intermodal rail terminal. The port has spent more than $100 million to expand its other terminals since 2000, and is spending $28 million to enlarge its bull," terminal. Lyons, who took over as chief executive of the authority in 1999. has been a maritime industry professional for more than 30 years; with positions in marketing, financial management, transportation, stevedoring and terminal operations.
