Jun. 9--Catawba County's proposed 2006-07 budget includes more paramedics and jail staff while avoiding a property tax rate increase. County Manager Tom Lundy released the $168 million spending plan Wednesday. It's a 5 percent increase over the current year's budget and maintains the property tax rate of 49 cents per $100 of value. The owner of a home valued at $150,000 would pay $735 in county property taxes.
While the proposal includes no major construction projects, it would add employees for law enforcement and emergency medical response.
