Jun. 9--When Leslie Walser Bather was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago, she faced the disease with the same determination as any challenging project that she pursued in the advertising world.

A creative director and writer, Mrs. Bather aggressively fought the disease, reading up on her illness, going in for surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. When the cancer spread to her lung, liver and brain two years ago, she tried the latest in treatments such as chemotherapy for the brain lining and Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery.
