To that end, the company is rolling out its new hybrids for the 2007 model year, beginning with the Saturn Vue Green Line in August, followed by hybrid variants of the Chevrolet Malibu and Saturn Aura sedans.
Six-speed automatic transmissions in front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive versions, gasoline direct injection, variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management (the new name for the cylinder-shutoff technology GM formerly called Displacement on Demand) also figure prominently in the company's offerings for 2007-08.
AFM, first applied to V8s, will make its first appearance on a GM V6 this fall in the 3.9-liter Chevrolet Impala.
