Quite a few folks around here questioned the idea of pitting a Mazda 5 against a Chevrolet HHR. These vehicles have little to nothing in common, they argued, and no one would ever cross-shop the two. Thing is, while we understand it's fairly easy to overlook their shared qualities, these two trucklet/wagon/minivan/crossover/whatcha-macallits have a ton in common, styling notwithstanding, and we think it would be a shame to shop one without considering the other.

So in an effort to break the DoubleTake mold, we thought it a good idea to give our readers an eye-opening look at just how closely these two little people movers stack up.
