Jun. 8--Despite statewide voter ambivalence about tax and bond measures, South Bay voters generally reached into their wallets Tuesday to fund school repairs.

In the largest bond measure in the area, voters in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District approved issuing nearly half a billion dollars in bonds. Measure C, which won about 65 percent of the vote, will enable the district to remodel and expand De Anza and Foothill colleges, buy land for a campus near Mountain View and upgrade technology.

District board President Betsy Bechtel said she found tremendous support for the district during the campaign -- in part…
