Jun. 3--A renowned public institution in Salinas is turning 40 this year, and its closest friends are throwing a birthday party. The staff, students and alumni of Alisal High School are throwing a big bash for the school, which opened in 1966 and had its first graduating class in 1967, said local historian Jim Albanese. The celebration, dubbed "Trojan Pride," is slated for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and will begin at nearby Cesar Chavez Library with a tour of the community.
