Africa, the fast-food outlet for rich European teams FOR how long is this continent going to continue serving as something akin to a football fast-food outlet for the rich nations? This nagging question begs asking after the Netherlands' attempt to get C'te d'Ivoire-born Salomon Kalou to play for them as a naturalised Dutchman in this year's Soccer World Cup finals.

Netherlands coach Marco van Basten and even legend Johan Cruyff shouted from the top of the highest mountain peak, and told anyone who cared to listen that they wanted the player's application for Dutch citizenship to be fast-tracked.
