Costa Coffee, the Whitbread-owned coffee-shop chain, has handed Karmarama its pounds 2 million UK creative account.
The agency's appointment follows a three-way pitch that included Shop and Mortimer Whittaker O'Sullivan. Costa did not have a retained agency but has worked with several smaller creative agencies on various projects.
Karmarama's brief is to develop a campaign that will initially kick off with print work.
Costa recently announced plans to increase the number of its outlets in the UK from 400 to almost 1,000 by 2010. The advertising will support this expansion.
