JCB has shortlisted Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy and St Luke's to pitch for a pounds 1 million branding campaign.
The UK-based agricultural and construction equipment manufacturer is understood to have briefed the two shops to build a campaign that celebrates JCB as a British manufacturing success story.
Chris Wright, JCB's worldwide marketing director and a former St Luke's creative director, is handling the review. The appointment will be a first for the manufacturer, which previously handled its marketing through its in-house design team.
In February, the company announced its first major sports sponsorship programme. It is positioning itself as a local partner sponsor of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
JCB launched in 1945 in the garage of its founder, John Cyril Bamford.
