PROTON Holdings Bhd and France-based PSA Peugeot-Citroen are talking of a possibly wider alliance than the one the Malaysian carmaker has with Mitsubishi Motors Corp.

Proton managing director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir said talks with Europe's second largest carmaker had reached "quite advanced details".

"Many know now that we are having discussions with PSA. The (potential) collaboration will be a bit broader than our tie-up with Mitsubishi," he said at a briefing on Proton's financial results in Shah Alam yesterday.
