Mori faction unease mounts / Ex-premier stumped over Abe, Fukuda and party leadership race

Former Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, commenting Sunday on Shinzo Abe and Yasuo Fukuda--the strongest likely candidates to succeed Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi as head of the Liberal Democratic Party--said Abe leads Fukuda within the Mori faction, to which both men belong.

On a TV Asahi program, Mori said; "As far as Diet members in my faction are concerned, more favor Mr. Abe than Mr. Fukuda.

"Few of them seem ready to talk with Mr. Fukuda "
