THE TITLE OF THIS PIECE IS ALSO THE title of a book that we are now developing to call attention to the close relationship between agriculture and environment.
We have not paid enough attention to that relationship, perhaps because we have been preoccupied with industrial pollution, which has, indeed, become a threat to life in some areas. But we ignore or do little to stop the rampant burning of rice straws in the countryside, which also has an adverse impact on public health and climate change.
