New real-estate school opens.

May 24--Naomi Harrell of Yadkinville is ready to leave her job as a production worker for a career in real estate.

"I like the fact that you can get out and be able to do a service for people that everyone needs," Harrell said.

She moved closer to making her dream come true by registering for classes at the newly formed Piedmont Real Estate Academy in Winston-Salem. The real-estate school opened its doors on Monday at 8001-D North Point Blvd. in North Point Office Park. The school is owned by David Helms and is operated by Helms and his business partner, Rick Epperson.

Helms and Epperson own Weichert, Realtors-RidgeTop, a sister company to the school.
