NOSHIRO, Akita -- A 7-year-old boy found dead along the bank of a river here had been strangled, investigators said Friday.

Akita Prefectural Police set up a task force comprising of about 100 investigators at Noshiro Police Station on Friday to search for the culprit.

An autopsy conducted on Friday on the body of the boy, Goken Yoneyama, has suggested that he died sometime between 4 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and revealed that he was strangled with what is believed to be a piece of rope, investigators …
